    Velvety Raven Black

I agree with the reviewer below that said Obsidian is better than black. While this shade essentially is black at first glance it has an extra magical dimension to it that requires a double-take. It's like the subtle blue-black sheen of a ravens wing catching the light.I also think the name Obsidian is very fitting when it is sheered out. When sheered it turns into a hazy smoky wash of colour which reminds me of the translucency of the obsidian volcanic glass rock which has always captivated me! The texture is velvety and wear time is great, set it with a little translucent powder or a setting spray for an even longer wear time. I love this one and you really need to see it in person! >3

The only "black" eyeshadow I like

It's got so much depth to it, you can't just call it black. You can blend it and build it up endlessly to achieve whatever amount of smokiness you want. It's also a great shade to blend with others if you need to create your own transition shade for the crease or whatnot. I like it best paired with bold colorful looks like teal or electric blue.

    Holy grail black shadow

I waited and waited for this to come back after I had gotten a sample but wasn't quick enough to get a full size. I'm so glad it was brought back because it is absolutely my holy grail black shadow. It's sooty, spooky, and delights my gothic soul. It's dark but the dimension in it keeps it from looking to heavy. Obsidian looks like a raven's feather to me and gives me a great smoky eye. If I could only have one eye soot I'm choosing Obsidian without hesitation. If you love a grungy/gothic black smoky eye but don't like matte black shadows give this one a try.

    Blue-ish Black Perfection

Back when Urban Decay was cool they had a fat eye pencil that was very dark navy blue with some glitter. One of my regular every day eye looks was just that pencil, heavily smudged.

I was not able to try a sample of Obsidian so I took a chance and ordered it. It's not a dupe for that old pencil at all. It does reflect the spirit of it, though. I love it and this old lady is walking around with smudged blue-ish black shadow again.

    Doesn’t last

Even with a grippy eyelid primer these just don’t last. Crease and fall out everywhere.

    WAY COOL

If you've used eye soots before you know the formula - soft and pigmented! This is a really interesting black with just a bit of blue to give it a little more dimension. Almost exactly like a raven's wing in sunlight. It's perfect for smudgey smoldery looks. I like to wear it as a messy eyeliner.
