Dusk: An inky blue of hypnotizing richness. Dusk is at once dark and vibrant, smoky and bright. This shade evokes the churning sea, the twilight sky, and precious lapis lazuli.
ABOUT THE PIGMENT AND ITS USAGE: Dusk is created with the deep blue of ultramarine pigment. Historically ultramarine pigment was made from lapis lazuli stone ground into a fine powder, and this resulted in the rarest blue pigment used in Renaissance painting. Though it also beautifully reflects the pigment’s hue, the name ‘ultramarine’ comes from 14th- and 15th-century Italian traders referencing its origin ‘beyond the sea’ from mines in Afghanistan.
Like other mineral pigments, modern cosmetics-grade ultramarine is synthesized for safety, as mined pigments may contain notable levels of heavy metals. Ultramarine pigment is approved for use in the United States for eyes and face, but not lips. In the European Union, ultramarine is approved for use on eyes, face and lips.

The packaging is super cute and comes with a lot of product. I can totally tell this is going to last a long time! The application was smooth and there was enough time to blend if you wanted. Buildable from light wash of blue to deep and opaque blue.

Of the 3 eyeliners I own (Abyss, Iron, and Dusk) Dusk is my least favorite to the extent that I've stopped reaching for it. By comparison, it applies the sheerest, and on me the blue isn't nearly as rich as it appears in the product photos. No matter how carefully I apply, it's a struggle to get opaque coverage that isn't patchy, and it's the only shade that gave me issues with transferring.

My favorite Rituel de Fille product was a limited edition deep blue eye soot called Nightfall. This turns out to be a perfect replacement that can be used smudged for a smoky shadow look, or as a liner, even better! The only gripe I might have is the packaging, which is cool looking but a little heavy and hard to store.

At first I was disappointed in the color payoff of this product. However, the second attempt I noticed it just needed to be manipulated more with my brush to soften up. Once I did that the color was very impressive and so smooth. The color was still vibrant after setting it with powder and it lasted throughout the day

I really like the Kohl eyeliners from RDF, at first I was applying it wrong and felt I couldn’t get longevity but doing layers and setting with some eyeshadow always helps to keep it from moving but the nature of the product allows for it to budge so expect that
