It is a red of soft, dreamy delirium, like a bitten lip, like a pulsing heartbeat: a diffused, truly sheer, but still utterly red blood red; one that can be applied without a thought in an easy smear, that wears like a part of you, that is unaffectedly powerful. Finally, this is that red lipstick we have always imagined. 

How to Wear: Apply directly from the bullet, using the pointed end to sharpen edges—or the tip of your finger to blur.

Delicate curls of smoke billow like silk in the still air. Crush the bitter herb. Break the dark root. Carefully pull the flower's petals, whisper familiar ancient words, and release them into the fire.

CREATING THE COLLECTION

Usually, when the two of us work together in our laboratory, serendipity strikes like lighting. But for this time, finding serendipity for ourselves required countless hours of creation we had to conjure our own thunderstorm. We set out to capture subtle, soft magic; to create a delicate, ethereal and spellbinding vignette in a collection, evoking a sense of the hidden and a the promise of the extraordinary.

Five times, once for each nuanced shade, we had to pass the finest golden thread through the narrowest needle's eye. Then, together, we had to spin each of those threads into a delicate gossamer whole. As each perfect shade emerged, we wove a new world at dusk. A sorceress delicately plucking from her botanical garden. A faun emerging from the river, glistening in the waning light. An unctuous potion created in a base of wine and honey. A nymph enveloped within the ancient forest, illuminated by the pulse of fireflies.

The result is a collection that speaks in powerful, resonant whispers; this is one of the most extraordinary collections we have ever released.

    My ultimate red lipstick

    I had never worn red lipstick before this. I actually got it last year during the Black Friday sale as a freebie and fell in love with this. I even emailed the team to beg them to make it a permanent color and they did! If you’re not used to such a bloody deep red you can tap this out for a very wearable shade. My favorite way to wear it is with a cool brown/greigey colored lipliner and this lipstick

    Red for stay at home or with LBD

    Adder's Tongue is a stellar neutral red. With one swipe of it, I like to wear it hanging about, runnng errands- or - with a bit of layering- it amps up to go with a LBD.

    It smells divine, too.

    Best red lipstick

    It can be very sheer and natural (very office appropriate). It can also be amped up.

    Colour reminds me a lot of Bloodflower. It feels very comfortable on the lips.

    A bit disappointed

    I feel a bit let down by this formula. It was chalky in comparison to my other RdF lipstick, Written in Blood. The color also seems a bit more orange than expected. I can make it work with a few other products and time but I was hoping for a more swipe and go like Written in Blood.

    Favorite Easy Wear Red

    Oh goodness this is such a gorgeous lippie. I’m already obsessed with RdF’s lipsticks: they are so comfortable, wear really well, look beautiful, and smell like lavender. But this color? WOW. It’s the prettiest one of the lip sheets, and that’s saying something because I wear Snakeroot or Whitethorn daily. It’s just the perfect red. Bright with a good amount of depth. I used to mix Superstition and Fiend to get a similar color. This is my new go to when I want a good swipe of color and need it to wear longer than most others (the picture here is after 2 hrs of wear with one application and several bottles of water)

    Not quite as expected

    Had to really slather this on to get the color that I expected. When worn sheer it’s VERY bright. I don’t suit bright colors, so it really takes a lot of work to be wearable for me. There’s times where I reach for it to add a bit more to a lip combo, so it still gets used. Just very rarely. (The photo I used was layered with Blood Thorn iirc btw)
