The Black Orb - Rituel de Fille

The Black Orb Enigmatic Kohl Eyeliner casts the deepest shadows, and smokes out into the darkest gaze. This cruelty-free formula is richly pigmented, deep, moody, and dramatic, and can be worn in a wide range of applications. Its mysterious jar invites creativity and allows for greater flexibility in application styles and techniques versus a pencil eyeliner. If you have searched as we did for the perfect inky, moody, dramatic kohl eyeliner, this may move you as much as it does us.

HOW TO APPLY

The Black Orb Enigmatic Kohl Eyeliner is neither gel nor powder, and its crème formula behaves with different properties. We recommend using your favorite brushes for application. For a winged eyeliner look, or a soft cat eye, we recommend an angled liner brush. To create a lived-in smoky look, apply with a smudge brush and diffuse out with a soft-bristled shadow brush like The Eye Soot Brush. With just a bit of practice, it can also be applied with fingertips for a smudgy, smoky and perfectly imprecise application.

The Black Orb is formulated to set without a harsh dry down. To best allow the film former to work its magic, we recommend applying in thin layers to allow the product to set, rather than doing a heavy single application. However, The Black Orb remains workable, which allows for a more forgiving application. The nonvolatile formula also ensures gentle wear on the delicate skin around your eyes. If you have hooded or extremely oily lids, you may wish to dust a layer of translucent powder on top after application to lock it in further.

    Great set

Unless you need a set of cooler colors, this set could cover your daily eyeliner needs. I love a red eyeliner, and purple is my favorite color, but brown eyeliner and mascara is my daily go-to, so this set ticks a lot of boxes. Tip: If you like me keep mixing up the names and colors, make a color swatch key so you don't have to open them to see the color.

    The Eternal Set is Brilliant

I love these pigments for doing a smokey smudge line or blending out into a sheer wash/lid base. I reach for Soil the most (bc my go-to is a brown smokey eye), but I love having the Twilight *and* Night options for cooler or warmer reddish-aubergene options. I do think one could probably achieve something close toTwilight by blending the Night and Iron shades, but I still think the set was worth it. I love this packaging so much, as it allows me to go in with my finger for creating a blended-out/wash look, or use a thin brush for a slightly more precise smokey line. (I don't recommend them for creating the super precise lines/wings in some of the images, as they're too creamy to maintain that look — I think that texture is a plus, but if you're looking to create a thin, crisp wing/line design, this isn't the product for that unless it's for a very quick photo shoot). These also work great for adding dimension to/creating a 3D lip, or for use as a thin base to layer the RDF eye soots over!

    Orbs of color

These colors are beautiful, layer well, and the pigment is buildable, they blend well and wear just as nicely. Being cream based adding a primer and a setting powder definitely helps keep creases down if you're using them like eyeshadow and you've got hooded eyes. Absolutely love all 3 colors.

    In love

I love the subtlety of the shades, one for every mood. They blend out well too. My middle aged hooded lids can’t maintain the cat eye that I favored when I was younger, but I can get close enough. Beautiful pigment. My favorite is the deep purple, as it makes my eyes look more green.

    These Colors are MAGIC.

I cannot say enough. I have used the Orb in Abyss and Iron for the last 3 years. But WOW. Twilight is the daytime color I have been missing. A beautiful hint of purple. Night is a stunning not quite black, pop. And Soil is a perfect day color for just a hint of color when you don't want a lot, but want something. LOVING them all. At 53, I feel like a kid just discovering makeup for the first time.

    Good Value

Good set for good value. Soil is such a everyday reliable color with less harshness than the usual Abyss. Twilight gives juuust a hint of purple that is not overwhelming at all. Night is an interesting color that is very dramatic and calls attention to itself the most. Would recommend if you like all three shades.
