This shade is opulence embodied, a spill of red wine infused with the radiance of warm, glimmering starlight. This is a deeply romantic, decadent and undone shade for catching flickers of candlelight in catacombs. For us, its drama evokes crushed pomegranate seeds, hand-embroidered velvet, and the night sky filtered through stained glass.
Monoceros is named for the unicorn constellation, located near the celestial equator. We drew our inspiration from early Renaissance tapestries, ancient bestiaries, and the alchemical fascination with the purifying properties of unicorn horns.
From one of Leonardo Da Vinci’s notebooks: "The unicorn, through its intemperance and not knowing how to control itself, for the love it bears to fair maidens forgets its ferocity and wildness; and laying aside all fear it will go up to a seated damsel and go to sleep in her lap, and thus the hunters take it."
