    Pleasantly surprised

    I got this lip oil as a first purchase, not knowing entirely what to expect. But, having had mixed experiences with lip oils, I knew I wasn't likely to be fond of the texture. Knowing this about myself, I got it mostly for the color and the sparkles, and well, it didn't disappoint! Not only is this lip oil not sticky in the slightest, it lasts well on top of lipsticks and liners for products of that nature. The color is described as being sheer, but it definitely tints my lips enough to know something is there. And, in the sunlight, the pink sparkles are to die for. My only complaint is that you can't really see the shimmer indoors all that well. (Pictured, I am wearing Night rose over a mauve lip liner from nyx)

    Amazing Formula

    I love this formula and all of their shades are so nuanced and special. I also love the smell of them, they aren’t scented but the ingredients are so fresh and natural that they smell herbal and soothing to me.

    A little disappointing, honestly.

    I was part of the testing group for the initial Thorn Bite release, and I own the Rose Bite shade as well; consequently, I thought I was well acquainted with Thorn Bite as a product…until I tried this shade.

    I guess my expectations might have been too high? Because I am a bit disappointed with the Night Rose shade. It does not possess anything like the moisturizing effect of Rose Bite, and based on Night Rose’s product copy and photos, I expected something more impactful and visible, and a little less sheer.

    Upon application, I found it surprisingly lackluster, and it has absolutely zero staying power. I mean, to be fair, the original versions do not last very long on the lips to begin with (which I already know and accept, as I continue to use my Rose Bite regularly!), but this one requires near constant reapplication in order to be even slightly visible on the lips. To say the shimmer is subtle would be quite an understatement— I have to squint to even catch a hint of it. Additionally, the scent of this shade is significantly less pleasant than my other tube, and a bit musty-smelling.

    Nevertheless, I adore this brand and have purchased a fair amount of their products over the years, and it only makes sense that eventually I would run into a product that doesn’t mesh well with me, so I will not let this one negative experience affect my future purchasing decisions.

    Night Rose lip oil

    I really liked the formula they use for this lip oil. It’s not heavy. It’s not greasy. It goes on really pretty and pigment doesn’t dry out my lips like other brands do.
