As one of the very first colors ever conjured in our first lab back in 2014, Shadow Self represents the foundational spectrum of Rituel de Fille. Embracing the hidden, mysterious aspects of the psyche, this shade invites you to explore the depths of the shadows.
It is a deep, metallic blue-black lipstick created with rich Tyrian purple undertones. Once applied, it settles into a striking crème matte finish with a beautifully muted shimmer, offering a dramatic and atmospheric look.
The Forbidden Lipstick Formula
An intensely saturated, rich and luxuriant lipstick carefully crafted to reveal bold, daring color and impart enduring moisture. This formulation offers a beautifully dense, opaque finish that remains deeply comfortable on the lips.
How to Wear
- For a bold, saturated finish: Apply Shadow Self directly from the bullet, using the edge to sharply define the lip line for a defined, intensely vampy impact.
- For a diffused, lived-in effect: Pat the metallic color onto the lips with your fingertips to soften the edges, creating a moody, shadowy stain with a hint of shimmer.

If there was ever a clean brand to do a black lipstick it's this one. I'm so grateful for them! I was skeptical about the sparkle at first but it's hardly noticeable and I like the idea that it's there. Definitely has a purple undertone but it's still very black. I like to use bite's lip serum and primer before I apply any lipstick and it makes these go on very smoothly. Makes a big difference. I'm not sure why they haven't come out with a blue lipstick yet. Maybe it's hard to make naturally. If they ever get it I'll jump on it for sure

When you don't want a black lip, but the impact of one....this is it for me. As a sheer, it really is ethereal in a just slightly warm way. Barely there. Layers, great impact. And it feels good on the lip.

This color is a shapeshifter that can appear absolutely black, eggplant, or navy speckled like the night sky. Above all, its one of the only darker shades from RDF that doesn't need much help in the form of liner or base primer, diffusion, etc.
