I’m sure a lot of people use these as they would any lip product: all over. I don’t. I use them mostly as modifiers. Black Locust lines the lip. Creates shadow in the corners. Velvet-ifies liquid lipsticks. Muted liquid lipsticks whose colors are too loud that day. Black Thorn adds wetness and moisture and depth. I almost always use it in the lip crease to create darkness. I know I’m not the typical applicator. I use both of these damn near every day.
The photo is the rare occasion where I have only a wash of black locust on the lip with black thorn in the crease. It’s a perfect light, summer, but still shadowed, look.

I have deep skin with warm undertones (Potion 180). I love that Black Locust makes my lips look dead. The color is buildable and flattering on different skin tones. Topped with Black Thorn, this is my favorite daily goth lip combo. You'll need to reapply if you're eating and drinking.

I've been looking for a moody, Gothic (but not too goth) black lip. I didn't want something too opaque, and I hate anything on my lips that needs constant touch-up.

This balm goes on smooth and feels great. Not sticky AT ALL. It wears beautifully, only getting lighter, and how dark it is can easily be controlled with how much you apply.
The Lip Oil is my personal favorite because it has a blurred finish at the edges if you use a light touch. GORGEOUS.
It's a perfect everyday, moody neutral. I'm in love.
Pretty containers that I'm sure will last me awhile, but expect to see me again...

I really love the formula and staying power for both of these products. I prefer the lipstick to the gloss, but that is a general preference for me. I like the combination of the two products. The lip color is such a unique and lovely grayish formula. My only complaint is I do wish they were unscented because sometimes it's too much to wear if I have a migraine.
