The Thorn Bite is a nice gloss-smells good, feels nice. I do wish there was more pigment in the product and that it was a bit thicker for longer staying power.
This is the color I've been hunting for since 2007—I've been carrying around a watch ad (?) in my swipe files, featuring a model with a slightly sunburnt, shimmery lip. I've tried to replicate it many times with many products. Night Rose is it. It's only taken me 18 years. Worth it.
The Night Rose color is absolutely stunning both on its own and over a sheer lip color (the website suggested Snakeroot, which I didn't have, so I layered it over Water Violet and Black Locust, both producing a gorgeous color. The downside: it's an oily oil. For my personal taste, the formula is a bit heavy; additionally, like other Rituel de Fille products, it has this herbaceous scent that I don't care for. I prefer my products, lip products in particular, to not have any taste or scent at all. Also, the vial itself is, I think, glass, not plastic or acrylic (it looks and feels very chic and high end); I had accidentally dropped it on the tile bathroom floor along with some other lip glosses in similar containers, and this one was the only one that shattered.
This is a nice addition to my growing collection of Thorn Bites. Sheer enough for a touch of daytime sparkle & can go thicker for nighttime glam. I am really glad this appeared from the archives sale!
The lip oils in general are just an incredible lip product. They feel amazing on and give a nice color pay off. In the archive event I purchased the Night Rose - excited at the prospect of having the decadent moisture with a shimmer. Swatching it on my hand it appeared more purple but on my lips it is a beautiful sheer shimmery deep pink burgundy color (the second picture is an accurate representation). It looks (and feels) amazing on. I was so excited to see it on the site - I am ordering another one for my sister.
Get a lip oil - they are amazing - but if you like a little something extra this is a gorgeous color.
This is a very pretty everyday lip oil if you're a fan of shimmer. So glad this and Night Thorn are part of the permanent collection.
