COVID-19 Updates

Updated: 12/12/22

IMPORTANT HOLIDAY ORDER DEADLINES + COVID-19 SHIPPING UPDATES

For your order to ship before 12/25, it must be placed by 11:59pm PST on Wednesday, 12/14. Please expect extended shipping times, as well as delays in tracking status updates. In some cases, your tracking may not update until the package has already been delivered.

Please expect much longer than usual delivery times, as well as significant delays in USPS tracking status updates. In some cases, your tracking may not update until the package has been delivered.

We ship from Los Angeles using USPS. For all orders shipping outside of the United States, including Canada, please see below for important shipping information.

As a small business, we are doing everything possible to adapt to the increasing challenges of shipping and fulfillment. We have added package protection services and temporarily expanded shipping options on our site, and will continue fulfilling orders as long as possible, as quickly as we are able. We are here to help, and will do everything within our power to ensure you have an excellent experience with our site and products.

If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please email us at contact@ritueldefille.com.

Please keep in mind that broader system disruptions affecting all parcel carriers are unfortunately out of our control. If your order contains a gift needed by a specific date, we cannot emphasize enough the importance of placing it as early as possible to allow for potential delays, as well as opting for expedited shipping and Route Package Protection at checkout. Please remember, once your package is handed off to the carrier, we cannot control its movement.

Our normal processing time is one week from the date the order was placed. However, as we are a very small team, please expect extended fulfillment times up to 10 business days until the end of 2022. All orders ship from our warehouse in Los Angeles, CA.

Due to COVID-19, a higher volume of online shopping will mean slower carrier processing times due to a much greater number of packages. Safety measures will also reduce available staff for sorting and delivery. Normally, USPS experiences significant delays and system overload during the holiday season, and we expect that to be even greater this year than last.

U.S. Orders
Domestic shipments placed by 12/14 should arrive to you by 12/24. However, while we will do everything we can to help, we cannot guarantee your package will arrive before 12/25. USPS has extended delivery timelines for both First Class and Priority Mail parcels, and is no longer offering delivery time guarantees for either. If you need your package by a specific date, particularly as we get closer to shipping deadlines, we strongly recommend opting for Priority Express which we have added as an option at checkout.

International Orders
For all orders shipping outside of the United States, please expect significant delays with customs processing both outbound from the United States and at your local facilities. We have seen delays of up to 30 days leaving the U.S., then another 30 days going through customs in the destination country. Unfortunately, we have no ability to expedite the customs clearance process, nor any control over related assessed fees and duties.

We have temporarily added DHL as a shipping option at checkout for destinations outside of the U.S., and recommend upgrading to this service if you need to receive your order by any specific date. Our standard shipping method is USPS First Class, and for orders destined for locations outside of the U.S. that means your package will be handed off to your country’s national postal service once it reaches the border.

IMPORTANT UPDATES TO SHIPPING TIMELINES

Due to reduced staff, parcel carriers are under an incredibly high level of stress, and are processing much higher volumes of packages than normal. We ship using USPS, and for international shipments, that means your package will be handed off to your national mail carrier once it enters your country.

We are generally still sending out orders within our standard 1-week fulfillment window, but are seeing significant and inconsistent delays on the carrier side for both domestic and international shipments. Tracking has also been comparatively unreliable, sometimes not updating from pre-shipment status until the package has already been delivered. Customs processing time has been extremely slow compared to what we normally expect.

We are doing absolutely everything in our ability to get orders to you as quickly as possible, but unfortunately once packages are handed off to USPS, their movement is out of our control.

Particularly during this time, we strongly recommend opting for Route Shipping Protection at checkout to ensure your package is protected from damage or loss in transit.

How is COVID-19 affecting international shipping from the United States?

If your order is shipping to any destination outside of the United States, our USPS contacts have informed us that you should anticipate approximately 60 days for your parcel to reach you after we hand it off to USPS. This delay is due to delays in customs clearance on both sides, as postal services are working with drastically reduced staff, facility closures, and a higher volume of packages than they have ever had to process.

Your package will spend up to 30 days at an outbound center (ex: LOS ANGELES CA INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER), and then approximately another 30 days once it reaches your country awaiting customs clearance.

This extended shipping applies to every country outside of the USA, including Canada.

Why isn't my tracking updating?

USPS is overwhelmed, and tracking scans are being skipped frequently at different steps in parcels' journeys. It may not update until your package is delivered.

Why did I receive one package quickly, while the other is taking much longer?

Package delays have been extremely inconsistent. Some Rituelists' orders have arrived in a perfectly normal timeframe, while others have taken dramatically longer. This is intermittent, and unfortunately, out of our control. We will do everything possible to make sure that your order reaches you, but due to circumstances surrounding COVID-19, it may take longer than usual.

Can I expect any other changes due to the global effects of COVID-19?

Due to recent disruptions in the global supply chain, you may notice some minor temporary changes to our compacts as we work to keep our colors available. Though the outside may appear smaller than compacts already in your collection, the product fill weight will remain the same as always with the same color and formula you love.

What measures are being taken during the COVID-19 outbreak?

We have extremely stringent sanitation procedures in place at our production and shipping facility at all times. Creating products to the highest standard is always our focus.

We are working with all members of the Rituel de Fille team to ensure their wellbeing: developing plans for working from home and expanding sick leave if needed to ensure everyone stays healthy.

We are closely monitoring all recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) to guide our health and security measures.
